Navajo handcrafted pendant by artist Ervin Tsosie. The unique inlay style is referred to as "micro inlay" due to the small size of the actual stones and the intricacy of the inlay. There are only a few artisans that are able to accompish this type of work and Ervin is one of the best. The design of the inlay shows a Native figure called a Yei floating in a night sky background with moons and shooting stars. This imagery is known as "father sky" and represents everything unknown. You will also see shapes and colors in multiples of 3, which represent the 3 roots of life, animal, vegetable and mineral. This synbolism can also be seen in the inlay of the bail.
