This Navajo-made sterling silver pendant was handcrafted by Travis Teller ("TRT") and features a long, narrow vertical rectangle of sterling silver plate with a deeply stamped Navajo rug pattern design. At the base of the rectangle sits a square-shaped Kingman turquoise stone with a lovely medium to light blue gradient. The piece is highly oxidized with a large, plain sterling bail measuring 8mm.
Kingman Turquoise originates in the Mineral Park Mining District near Kingman, Arizona. One of the largest domestic turquoise mines, it is found in a large open pit copper mine in the high desert country. The Kingman Mine district was first mined by Native Americans; it was part of the most extensive prehistoric workings in Arizona.
