Handcrafted By Navajo artist Happy Piaso. The bracelet features a oval white buffalo stone. Another unique feature that really sets this bracelet apart from the rest is the detailed stamping and heavy twist wire mountings. Even the ends of cuff are heavily stamped. The width of the bracelet allows it to lay comfortably on the wrist. This is a wonderful example of a Navajo bracelet with a rare stone.
Materials: Sterling silver & white buffalo stone
Measurements: Width 5/8", inside 5-1/4" with a opening of 1-1/4" (all measurements are approximate)
*this bracelet will fit wrist sizes of 6-1/4" to 6-3/4"
Stone: The White Buffalo stone originates from the Tonopah Nevada area found in the same general veins as Dry Creek turquoise but has no copper content. Considering this fact, it should therefore NOT be called “white, turquoise” as it does not have the same chemical composition as turquoise, which is a copper phosphate. There is no copper to cause blue color or iron to cause green color. It is a mostly clean white calcite/quartz mix with black chert inclusions (matrix) that are more sharply defined as opposed to being smutty. The better stones have clear delineations of black and white.
Artist: Happy Piaso, Navajo, is 51 years old and is married to Rudie Willie. She was born and raised in Alamo, New Mexico and has 2 children, one of which is in the military. Happy was taught the craft of silversmithing by her husband, Rudie.
