Overlay Style Wave Design Ring

This Hopi-made sterling silver overlay style ring features a flowing wave-inspired design with oxidized recessed details against a softly polished silver surface. The elongated oval face and open negative space create a clean, sculptural look that reflects the precision of traditional Hopi overlay artistry. The ring has a smooth 1/8" band that makes it comfortable for everyday wear while still offering a bold graphic presence. The wave design in the recessed area was created using the Hopi Overlay technique, where a top layer with a cut-out design is soldered to a solid base plate. Before the bottom silver plate is joined, a meticulous technique called "matting" is used to create tiny, intentional indentations (seen as tiny etches), catching light from within the oxidized recess to add depth to the design.
