They say the simplest designs are the most difficult, and this bracelet is no exception! Crafted by Navajo artist Albert Jake, this bracelet is probably the most difficult silver work he has down. Made from twisting heavy gauge silver wire and then hammering it flat and shaping it perfectly smooth and round as to fit the wrist exactly.This along with other details makes this one our most outstanding pieces to offer. Measuring 3/4" in width and has an inside measurement of 5"1/2 and a 1"1/4 opening, it will most wrists.
Artist: Albert Jake: was born in 1959 in the Zuni Pueblo south of Gallup, New Mexico. He learned silversmithing from his parents. He specializes in traditional set stones and cluster jewelry with intricate stamp work. He has been smithing since 1987. He also creates sand-paintings and makes pottery. During the summers he works as a forest fire fighter. He lives with his wife and two daughters today in Rahmah, New Mexico, near the Zuni Pueblo. Sugilite (purple) is a rare mineral named after Ken-ichi Sugi, a Japanese geologist who first discovered the material in 1944 on the Japanese island Shikoku.... Sugilite has a vivid purple color and is usually opaque to translucent.
