Hand crafted cuff by Navajo artisan Roland Dixon features a Golden Hills turquoise stone with a great deal of chocolate matrix set above the band surface. The stone's smooth bezel is wrapped in twisted rope wire. Oxidized for a high contrast, the band has been stamped with small, bubble-like circles across the surface, creating an almost animal skin-like appearance. Shiny sterling caps flank the stone setting on either side with sharp lines stamped bolting outwards towards the cuff tips. Band measures 5/8" wide. With a 6" inside measurement and a 1 1/4" gap. Stone measures 1 x 7/8". The piece comes attached to its original pawn ticket. The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900's when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities. It is still used today and is embedded in the Navajo culture.
