Large Kokopelli Overlay Pendant with

This Hopi-crafted, sterling silver pendant features Kokopelli and waterway motifs in a traditional Hopi-overlay design. The pendant is shaped like a large, heavy teardrop with a rounded bottom that tapers to a soft point at the top. The bail (the loop for the chain) is a long, inverted triangle with a matching overlay design, allowing the piece to hang with a graceful, vertical flow. Figures in the recessed areas are created using the Hopi Overlay technique, where a top layer with a cut-out design is soldered to a solid base plate. Before the bottom silver plate is joined, a meticulous technique called "matting" is used to create tiny, intentional indentations (seen as tiny etches), catching light from within the recess and adding depth to the design.
