Navajo handcrafted Turtle pendant. Designed by renown artsit Calvin Begay. Made of solid sterling silver, this pendant features a oval inaly design showing a scenic southwestern adobe village. The inlay area is made of genuine turquoise, brown jasper, black jet and cultured opals. No paint of enamel is used ! Measuring 2-1/2" in total lenght with a width of 1", this is a large pendant. The bail is large enough to accommodate up to a 7mm bead or chain. Turtle is a symbol of Mother Earth. He represents self-reliance, tenacity, and longevity.

The Navajo believe that Father Sky contains everything unknown and therefor look to the sky for many of their answers. Due to the isolation of the Navajo nation the night skies are very dark and show many of the constellations that cannot been seen in other parts of the United States. The Navajo look to these stars for meanings and answers to their culture.
