Unique, Navajo-made ring stamped "RS" and ".925" features four round turquoise stones set with sawtooth bezel wire mounted vertically on a tall, curved rectangle. This rectangle is framed by twisted rope wire and decorated with a textured overlay rug pattern design on the side opposite the stones. Unique piece! Measures 1 1/2" x 3/4" overall. Shank is 1/8". The piece comes attached to its original pawn ticket. The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900's when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities. It is still used today and is embedded in the Navajo culture.
