Pawn Inlay Sunface Cuff

This vintage inlay sunface cuff is Zuni handmade. The cuff is a split shank design with three intricately inlayed sunfaces with onyx, turquoise, mother of pearl and coral. The piece comes attached to its original pawn ticket. The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900's when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities. It is still used today and is embedded in the Navajo culture.

Materials: Mother of Pearl, Onyx, Coral, Turquoise & Sterling Silver

Measures: 1-1/2" tapering to 1-1/4" with a 5" inside and a 1-3/4" opening.
