Square King's Manassa Turquoise pendant

Handcrafted by renown Navajo artist Randy Boyd. Set in heavy gauge solid sterling with a square King's Manassa Turquoise stone. Measuring 1" square with a mounting of 1"5/8 square. Heavy stamped details surround the setting and give the pendant a great presence. It is rare to find a square mounting not to mention a turquoise stone of this caliber. This is a true collectors piece.

Stone: Royston Turquoise: A district in Nevada consisting of three turquoise mines: Bunker Hill, Oscar Wehrend, and the main producer, The Royal Blue. Royston is known for its beautiful colors ranging from deep green to rich, light blues which are set off by a heavy brown matrix. The Royston mine is producing a little high-grade turquoise today, operated by the Ottison family. They process most of their material into finished cabs and allow very little rough to come onto the market. This controlled output has raised the price of this material considerably in recent years.

Artist: Randy Boyd Born in Gallup, New Mexico, Randy Boyd has been an active silversmith since 1990.Navajo silversmith Randy Boyd began making jewelry at the age of sixteen and has been working professionally as a jeweler for over twenty years. In his spare time, he raises cattle and practices roping in his backyard. His old-style jewelry is made with the highest quality natural stones with Randy’s unique flair for design." Randy has spent decades honing his sterling silver skills. He worked for legendary Navajo artist Ray Tracey where he learned how to make very stylish pieces. Then he would later show up doing piece work for several Traders in town, before ending up in the workshop of Stoneweaver. This is when he did more traditional silver work, turquoise and heavy silver.
