Sandcast style bracelet with Royston turquoise

NAVAJO HANDCRAFTED BRACELET

Navajo handcrafted bracelet in the sandcast style. Set in solid sterling silver and genuine Royston turquoise. This old design is one of the original styles of making Native American jewelry. Medium sized with a width of 1"-1/4 it is easy to wear. It has an inside measurement of 5" with a 1"-1/8 opening. This will fit a 6" sized wrist. 

Stone: Royston Turquoise: A district in Nevada consisting of three turquoise mines: Bunker Hill, Oscar Wehrend, and the main producer, The Royal Blue. Royston is known for its beautiful colors ranging from deep green to rich, light blues which are set off by a heavy brown matrix. The Royston mine is producing a little high-grade turquoise today, operated by the Ottison family. They process most of their material into finished cabs and allow very little rough to come onto the market. This controlled output has raised the price of this material considerably in recent years.

Style: The Sandcast Jewelry Method: Sandcast Native American is a style of Navajo jewelry was first created by silversmiths sometime between 1840 and 1860. The basis of this process is a mold made by carving the desired design into a stone. Using this mold, a piece of jewelry is made (belt buckle, bracelet, ring, etc.) and becomes the "master sample" from which the subsequent sandcast pieces are made.
