Handmade bolo tie made by Navajo artist Kevin Billah .The unique bolo tie consists of a large turquoise stone surrounded by detailed silver work. Many of these detials are a process referred to as repousse´, where the the silver is stamped from the reverse side creating a raised shape of pattern. A wonderful example of tradional Navajo jewelry with Arizona tutquoise.
It comes attached to its original red pawn ticket.The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900s when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities, it is still used today.
