NAVAJO HANDCRAFTED BRACELET GOLDEN HILLS TURQUOISE
One of most detailed stamped bracelets. Handcrafted by Navajo artist Derrick Gordon. Known for his unique style in his jewelry this bracelet is no exception. Measuring 1" and tapering down to 3/4, the single Golden Hills turquoise stone approximately 1" x 1/2". The overall circumference is on the smaller side with a inside measurement of only 5"1/4 with a 3/4" opening. It is an excellent example of traditional Navajo jewelry.
Stone: In the Russian hills of Kazakhstan sits the GOLDEN HILLS mine. The Turquoise is only mined in the winter months during the freezing cold and snow as rains flood the mine during the summer. The location of the mine is remote and difficult to bring equipment in and out of. It is the only Turquoise known to have the unique coloring of bright blue with a Lavender undertone. Derrick Gordon was born in Gallup, New Mexico in 1971. His mentor was his uncle Delbert Gordon. Derrick utilizes fine natural turquoise to create old style traditional jewelry with heavy stamp work.
