Pawn Jewelry- Navajo cuff bracelet by Lee & Verna Wesley

Navajo handcrafted cuff bracelet by husband and wife team of Lee & Verna Wesley. The unique bracelet features a single oval turquoise stone surrounded by twist wire with 1/2 circle round wire pattern. The turquosie has a light blue coloring with dark brown matrix. It has a light weight and comfortable feel. 

It comes attached to its original red pawn ticket.The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900s when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities, it is still used today and is embedded in the Navajo culture.
