Extra large YEI pendant w/Night Sky over Adobe Pueblo inlay

Handcrafted  pendant designed by renown Navajo aritst Calvin Begay. The unique pendant features a inlay bail with a inlay YEI dangling below. Both elements are done in the  NIght Sky over Adobe Pueblo pattern consisting of highly detailed images of the dark southwest night skys with native symbols. The pendant is reversable allowing you two pendants in one ! The reverse side reveals a pattern of storm clouds, rain and lighting. Signed by the artist. 

Mesurements: total length with bail-4" with a max width of 1". The bail is 12mm large

NIGHT SKY: Inspired by the clear dark night skies of the Navajo Nation. The Black you see is called "JET "and is a fossilized wood, which has been compressed over millions of years. Multiple pieces of stone make up the mosaic image. The stars are made from pieces of silver and the larger star and moon along with the shooting star are made from Cultured Opal. Sterling silver (stars and setting)The pueblos and scenery are made of jasper

NAVAJO YEI MEANING: In Navajo mythology, yei (pronounced "yay") are a group of spirit deities. or holy people, who act as mediators between humans and the Great Spirit. The name Yei derives from Yeibicheii. The curved symbol of the yei who controls the rainbow, often appears in jewelry, healing ceremonies, and sand paintings. The yei are benevolent beings who bring healing powers to Navajo medicinal ceremonies. During these ceremonies, medicine men summon the yei by creating dry paintings that recreate stories and songs to help patients heal and return to harmony.
