Navajo handcrafted bracelet by artist's Elroy & Bernadine Chavez. The tradional design of the bracelet features 5 turquoise stones mounted in sterling silver. All the stones are surrounded by heavy hand twist wire and seperated by silver beads. Detailed stamping can be seen on the ends of the bracelet and really shows the craftsmanship of the artist. The bracelet has a sturdy feel and is very comfortable.
It comes attached to its original red pawn ticket.The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900s when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities, it is still used today and is embedded in the Navajo culture.
