Handcrafted by Navajo artist Albert Jake. Made of solid sterling silver with genuine #8 Turquoise. The ring features a large oval stone measuring 1-1`/8" by 3/4" mounted on a adjustable shank. The shank has detailed stamping and tapers from 1/2" to 1/4". This ring is all about the rare #8 mine turquoise stone with its large presence and beautfiul coloring.
Stone: The number 8 mine was presumably discovered about 1925.Host rocks for the Number 8 deposit consist of intensely altered quartz monzonite, shale, and thinly bedded black chert, which are complexly folded, faulted, and much altered. Turquoise is concentrated along quartz veins in the intrusive rock and along faults in the sedimentary rocks. Number 8 turquoise is famous for its black, golden-red and brown spider web matrix background, which is set off by the soft blue to blue green turquoise.
