Pawn jewelry- Zuni corn bracelet

Zuni handcrafted cuff bracelet featuring a corn design.The corn plant is one of four sacred plants of the Navtive American culture and is vital to their livelihood.The unique design of the corn image is hand carved  out of a white mother of pearl shell with colorful elements throughout.The simple bracelet is light weight and is perfectly sized to wear everyday. It comes attached to its original red pawn ticket.The term "pawn" refers to jewelry that has been pawned to brokers. The practice of pawning jewelry began in the early 1900s when Native Americans and traders would exchange jewelry for food and other necessities, it is still used today and is embedded in the their culture.
