14kt Tear drop shaped pendant - Carico Lake

Handcrafted 14kt gold pendant by Navajo artist Rick Tolino. The pendant features a beautiful green turquosie stone from the Carico Lake mine. This rare turquoise's coloring creates a great contrast against the 14kt gold. The mounting has detailed saw cuts that frame the stone perfectly. This is a wonderful example of a traditional Navajo pendant. The bail is large enough to accmodate up to a 3mm chain. 

Measurements: ( mounting) 1" x 3/4" and tapers to a 3/16"

Cairo Lake Turquoise is named after the location of its mine, located on a dried-up lakebed in a high, cool area of Lander County, Nevada. It’s clear, iridescent, spring green color is due to its zinc content and is highly unique and collectible. Carico Lake turquoise is also found in a dark blue as well as a blue-green color with a black, spider web matrix. The Carico Lake mine is primarily a gold producing mine. However, from time to time, the mining company leases the turquoise producing part of the mine to individual miners who are permitted to work that part.
